On August 29, 2025, New Orleans' Cha Wa will release Rise Up, their fourth and most accessible album yet. Timed with the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the album explores themes of rebirth and freedom through the lens of Mardi Gras Indian culture. Featuring guests like Irma Thomas, John Boutte, and Roger Joseph Manning, Rise Up blends stellar songwriting, led by drummer Joe Gelini, with powerful R&B funk anthems. Produced by Dave Trumfio, its 11 original tracks showcase the band’s evolution and spotlight “Spyboy” Irving “Honey” Banister Jr. of the Golden Sioux tribe.
