On four cold snowy mornings and afternoons in January and February of 2014 in Bucks County, Pa., with the backdrop of the trees on the front cover photo, the music on this album was recorded with virtually no rehearsal and for the most part in one take. The result is an exciting mix of jazz tunes and original improvisations. The range of feelings and moods runs from lyrical, powerful, combustible, ethereal and intimate. I knew I wanted to record some tunes that i have always loved and never tire of so we started with Blue in Green. Since I knew Bill Evans as a friend, I wanted to begin with a Piano Improvisation and later added the beautiful lyrics written by Cassandra Wilson (Sky and Sea). The Bass from Josh Machiz was so rich and later Jarrett Gilgore, alto saxophonist played an unbelievably expressive solo with Kevin Ripley , Drums, matching and blending everything together with understated drums.
