Filha da Lolita is a song about my deceased mother who's name is Aurora Lolita Mendoza. Filha da Lolita means Lolita's child in Portuguese. My mother was murdered at my tender age of 6 years old and I have recently come to heal that experience. The song speaks on being alive and having a legacy to build for her and the mothers before her. It's a bond statement and a reclaiming of who I am as a human living in this concrete world. Its a confirmation that I am magic and will always be my mother's child first. They may have killed her in the flesh but her spirit lives in me forever.
