I was commissioned to create a piece for my class reunion to honor those class members who have passed on. My discussions with the sub-committee chair was a clear direction to create music that could be used with a video presentation of the fallen so that the final disc could be legally sold to classmates who wanted to have the final media product as a keepsake. The concept was to provide whistles to the attendees, and when someone they loved was presented, they would blow their whistle in honor of everyone who had passed. The idea was rejected by the time the song reached the mastering point in the production process and was shelved. Some 9-months later, my Aunt passed away, and our Arizona members of the Family would not be able to attend with such short notice, so we put a video together to be shared at the memorial service, and I brought the song off the shelf and used it as background music.
