Writing about a musician, my respected friend, is no easy matter. You risk stating the obvious, or even taking up the defence! So, simply and realistically, let us say that Marco Gotti is a “true” musician, instrumentalist, conductor and composer. But, above all, let us say that he is a curious and passionate experimenter. How else can we explain the fact that his creature – the JW Orchestra – has succeeded in prospering (albeit amid the normal vicissitudes, the inevitable ups and downs) for over twenty years, maintaining the same qualities as its founder, continually receiving, transmitting and discovering the stimuli, the research and, before all else, the pleasure of “making music”?
