Estévez, Jr.This marvelous LP is one of the cornerstones of Paquito Guzmán's career, and the one that singlehandedly kicked off his solo career in the salsa world (although he had established himself quite solidly in the Tommy Olivencia Orchestra). This LP (unjustly unissued in its entirety on CD) virtually showcases Guzmán in everything he's known for: salsa, bolero, and guajira. "Esa Mujer" is one of his most famous hits, as well as "La Carta de Soledad." However, the rest should not be ignored: The awesome guajira "La Tragedia," a wild salsa (Jorge Millet's "Venganza," which was formerly a bolero), and the self-penned "El Cantor" are all quite enjoyable. Easily one of Paquito Guzmán's most remarkable and highly commercial ventures. Arrangements are by Louis Garcia, Jorge Millet, Mandy Vizoso, and José "Cholo" Ortiz.
