The EP starts with the title track “Erlking”. Named after the very dark and mystic king of the elves, this track is a heavy hitting beast. The rolling drum pattern sounds like a horses’ gallop, accompanied by striking bass synth shots and signature Avidus effects and details. Then the lead comes in almost narrating a story of being chased by the king. After some rave moments the main break is happening and in a trademark Avidus’ manner the harmonies and lead combine into a symphonic progression. After the drop, no more words are needed. In her remix of the title track rising talent Nina Hepburn from Hamburg takes the lead of Avidus and adds a deeper drum kit, giving it a more elegant and progressive overall vibe. With some more melodic lines and a rolling baseline this remix is a beautiful alternative to the original.
