Nancy Hamilton is a vocalist cut from the old cloth, delivering jazz vocals old school. Her voice is a rich, sultry contralto that instantly recalls smoke-filled jazz bars in dark basements in the heyday of jazz. Although her voice has a beautiful tone, she is not simply a pretty voice. Nancy discovers great gems in the jazz repertoire and gives them a good polish, and a brand new sound. There is always a sense of adventure and exploration, but always a cool control, as different corners of a tune are brought to light.
