Having crashed onto the scene this year, with a little help from their Latin American friends, NastyFunk Records had decided to look a little closer to home to find that something different for their 4th release. and found it in French act; The Pilotwings. The Portal EP provides something original in every one of it's four tracks, each one smouldered with creativity and imagination. The title track, is a sombre, haunting piece, telling a story that needs to be told, through it's echoic vocals and reverberant guitar riffs. The second original work, Flash, is a much more upbeat arrangement, providing plenty of groove, but never afraid to take any risks, not least via a courageous breakdown and show-stopping baseline changes. Two additional remixes of Flash keep the originality flowing, provided for us by UK rising star; Dan Styles and Brazilian mainstays; Touchtalk.
