Dan Jose, real name Danny Joseph, is actually a native of St. Lucia. Though born there, he spent most of his childhood on the nearby island of Barbados. An artist at heart, Dan's talent was first actualized in his drawings before he ever had an eye for rap. His taste for music was more so in the area of rock than anything else, so rap music and rapping itself was left up to his younger brother. That all changed when he met a girl he wanted to impress. She liked rap and mentioned names to him, such as Jay Z. It's not that he never heard of this artist before, but it gave him a reason to buy his first rap album ( The Black Album ) and doors that were shut flew wide open.
