Brian Woodbury is a recently retransplanted Los Angeles songwriter, having spent the last 14 years in New York. Equally at home in the worlds of New York's downtown music scene, musical theater and pop, he's most at home when straddling all three. Woodbury began performing at the age of 11. He studied musical comedy songwriting with Tom Lehrer, and music composition with Bernard Rands and Pauline Oliveros. He has collaborated with numerous songwriters including Van Dyke Parks. He has written theater scores, instrumental pieces, dance and television music and hundreds of songs. Woodbury's new CD The Brian Woodbury Songbook, features a host of singers, including Jill Sobule, Terre Roche of the Roches, David Yazbek(composer/lyricist of Broadway's The Full Monty) and Sean Altman of Rockapella.
