Sometimes we need friends to help us bring our dreams to life. Such was the story of this song. The two of us met in Chicago, serendipitously connected at an event led by our treasured friend, Margaret Wheatley. Barbara was the musical storyteller that evening. Stephanie was the joyful dancer in the front row. Our paths joined again in South Africa where we traveled with a group of women leaders. During conversations in the van, Stephanie invited Barbara to create a song based on her poem "The Real Story." This joyful collaboration has fostered a deep friendship and a commitment to create joint presentations on these themes. The song had its premiere with 2,000 women educators at the 2008 International Delta Kappa Gamma Conference.
