Mimicry is a study in soundscape composition as suspended in-between the organic and the synthesised. While some of its sounds resemble nature and its creatures, the piece doesn’t feature field-recordings nor samples. Instead, it utilises the complex electric paths a signal takes as it courses through a maze of interconnected devices. The microcosm created in this network soon takes a life of its own, producing tapestries and sonic objects that evolve and behave in a way that mimics the natural world. The cover art illustrates this process of spontaneous formation through a visualisation of the strange forces of attraction in a system of chaos.
