Their Ideal The musical relationship of these four musicians began in 1997. Most probably, it is this long cooperation which creates this atmosphere of familiarity at their concerts and allows the audience to bathe in their sound with an open ear and an open spirit, a sound that allows various kinds of interpretation. The protagonists‘ motivation to be musicians derives from an idea based on musical independence and the wish to constantly defend it. They are traditional avantguardists with a burning feu-sacré: jazz is life. They don’t re-invent everything from scratch and they don’t copy any seasonal fashions. The aim is rather to provoke given norms or even to break them. Virtuosity is never reduced to a means unto itself; their honest music is based on playful interpretation, a vital interplay and a risky „to and fro of ideas“.
