Tracy Ray is a songwriter, guitarist and singer from Minneapolis. Having played in alt-rock bands during and after college, he eventually left the music scene to raise a family. Now, some twenty years later, he emerges with his first solo release: a three-song, self-titled EP. Tracy Ray has been most heavily influenced by the seminal, progressive/alternative bands of the 1980’s: The Replacements, Husker Du, The Smiths, Bauhuas, Trip Shakespeare, REM, U2. He has a great appreciation for current bands The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, The Hold Steady and Old 97’s. His own music is decisively guitar-driven, melodic, and non-electronic. In the self-titled EP, Tracy Ray goes for a more Americana feel adding hints of rockabilly while staying trying to stay true to his progressive/alternative roots.
