Soprano Johanni van Oostrum recently made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as La Contessa di Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, conducted by Ivor Bolton. Her role debut as Elsa in Lohengrin at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar was met with critical acclaim by the press. An important step in her career came when, at short notice, she successfully took over the role of Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle at De Nederlandse Opera. In the same year she sang the title role in Ka’ta Kabanová by Janáček under the direction of Harry Kupfer. More invitations to appear at other opera houses followed, resulting in engagements at Rahvusooper Tallinn, Komische Oper Berlin and the National Theater in Brno in the Czech Republic.
