Paper Dragon have produced this album as a collection of melodic songs, with a progressive rock slant, sometimes going very progressive, sometimes more poppy. Musically very unlike any other artist I have heard, with many different styles used on these 14 tracks, but staying within a certain sound. Vocals are the main part of the songs, with complex and unusual harmonies used all through the album. Lyrically autobiographical, but with songs about temptation, betrayal, fears of failure, these are not your average love songs, although there are a few references to relationships past and present. The lyrics themselves dig deep into personal experiences, but these experiences are all accessible, and do not become self indulgent. The words, just like the music, are quite unusual, but always believable, and easy to relate to, even though some are clearly from troubled times.
