Shawn "Sauny" Jones and Sam Lutui met in college. They both played college football. They shared the same interest in music, being struggling college students they started playing music to support themselves. After, college they both took a break from music to follow other dreams. Music, being in their blood, brought them back together and they pursued their careers in music playing together in various bands they started with friend Tigi Tapusoa. Sam, reunited with his friend Suliasi Tupou. Peter Delapinia who played in past bands with Shawn came on board and soon after the five of them formed Evalution.
